National Cattlemen’s Beef Association pays for Anti-Vegan “Study” ">National Cattlemen’s Beef Association pays for Anti-Vegan “Study”

I normally don’t report on news stories as we have a veg*n newsfeed on our front page from Animal Concerns.

However, I feel that this one is worth noting. Here’s a Veg Sources rebuttal to the anti-vegan child diet study that has been all over the national and local press.

Among other interesting facts, the “research” was indeed partially funded by the National Cattleman’s Beef Association. While it would be foolish to dismiss a study out of hand simply due to the business interests of its financial backers (this alone would be no better than vivisectors dismissing research on animal cruelty because it came from the PCRM), in this case the study’s premise and conclusions require such a bizarre leap of logic that a discovery of the funding source can only lead to an “aha” moment, as it’s the only way I can explain how something like this could ever happen.

BAVEG on the road

I’m super proud of our new license plate for the Bug.

B A VEG - Veggie License Plate

I was very surprised it wasn’t taken. I’d wanted a custom plate for a while and almost went with a Star Wars theme, ‘Darth VW’ was my top choice, but I’m so glad BAVEG was not taken and we were able to get it.

We’ve had the domain baveg.org for a while, but not used it until now. Thought this would be better to use on the car than our main domain as it maybe easier for people to remember while zipping by at 75 MPH 65 MPH.

I’m still working on the decal for the back window. Currently reads “BAVEG.ORG – Bay Area Vegetarians”

If you see use driving around town, don’t forget to honk your horn.

For the record, the car is a black 1998 Diesel VW New Beetle. Does close to 50 MPG and the work horse for getting us to and from BAV events.
